Bindi Irwin Reveals New ‘Heartbreaking’ Health Update

Two years after first disclosing her battle with endometriosis, Bindi Irwin is once again speaking out about the difficult truth of living with the disease.

She’s now sharing a heartfelt message about a deeply personal question that no woman should feel obligated to answer.

A Private Struggle

Living with endometriosis has been an incredibly challenging experience for Bindi Irwin. Her long and painful journey to get a proper diagnosis was filled with frustration and emotional toll.

One of the hardest parts, Bindi recalls, was the uncertainty. She went years without answers, often feeling dismissed by doctors, which led her to question her own pain. In a recent interview with the Courier Mail, she admitted that fear kept her from speaking out for a long time.

Throughout that time, only a few people were aware of what she was going through: her mother Terri Irwin, her brother Robert, and her husband Chandler Powell.

“It’s terrifying to open up about your darkest moments,” Bindi shared. “To talk about when you felt like you were trapped in a deep hole and didn’t know if you’d ever climb out.”

Misunderstood by Friends

Bindi’s symptoms began when she had her first period. She experienced intense pain, nausea, and constant fatigue that only worsened as the years went by. Despite her health struggles, she tried to maintain a normal life—she even got married in 2020—hiding the severity of her condition from the public eye.

However, the disease began to take a serious toll. At 26, Bindi felt suffocated by her invisible illness, and those around her couldn’t understand her behavior.

“People started to see me as unreliable because I would cancel plans last-minute due to the pain,” she explained.

A Painful Revelation

Receiving a diagnosis of endometriosis—a condition in which tissue similar to the uterine lining grows in other areas of the body—brought Bindi some relief. Last year, she shared on Instagram that she had undergone surgery to treat it.

Her goal in sharing her experience was to help others. But the responses she received were both moving and devastating.

“In many ways, the reaction broke my heart,” Bindi said. “So many women came forward with stories that mirrored my own, or were even worse. Many waited years for a diagnosis, and they opened up about a wide range of women’s health issues.”

The Question That Hit a Nerve

Endometriosis can significantly impact fertility—Honey9 reports that up to half of those affected may struggle to conceive. This makes the birth of Bindi’s daughter, Grace Warrior Irwin Powell, on March 25, 2021, all the more remarkable.

During a recent Q&A on YouTube, Bindi and Chandler addressed a question they frequently receive: “Are you planning to have another child?” Although often asked innocently, the question touches a sensitive spot for Bindi.

“How often do we hear that question, Chandler?” Bindi asked, visibly emotional. Chandler replied, “Every day.”

A Family Grateful for Their Miracle

For the couple, Grace is a true miracle. Chandler took a moment during the video to reflect on their gratitude.

“We feel incredibly fortunate to have Grace. Every moment with her is a gift,” he said. “We’re truly content as a family of three.”

A Plea for Compassion

Bindi, known for her warmth and thoughtfulness, responded to the personal question with grace.

“I understand people are curious,” she said. “But before asking something so intimate, please consider what someone might be going through. Just because someone looks okay on the outside doesn’t mean they are. The journey behind the scenes could be filled with pain and hardship.”

She went on to express how grateful they are for their daughter. “Grace is our miracle, and while she may be our only child, we feel so blessed. Maybe someday we’ll be fortunate enough to have another, but for now, we are cherishing every second with her.”

Bindi also opened up about how the word “only” feels diminishing.

“I don’t like the word ‘only’ when talking about Grace. She is our daughter, our everything. She’s beautiful, perfect, and amazing. I think every day about how lucky we are to have her.”

Striking a Chord

Her words resonated with many who watched the Q&A. One viewer shared their appreciation in the comments: “As someone with several chronic illnesses, I’m so grateful for the awareness you raise around endo and invisible conditions. It truly matters.”

Bindi’s openness continues to shed light on endometriosis, helping to break down stigma and spark vital conversations. Sharing her truth is a powerful step toward greater awareness and understanding.
